At the ripe old age of 17 I was bitten by the tattoo bug. I had planned to get my tongue pierced (mank – thank God I didn’t) but chickened out and came to the conclusion that a tattoo would be the lesser of two evils in terms of pain.
I spent weeks planning my butterfly design, back in the days when I was actually somewhat artistic. So off I went and got my first tattoo on my back (before they were refered to as ‘tramp stamps’, cheers for that!).
Two years later I decided to get another one. This time a treble clef on my wrist. Neither tattoo particularly hurt and so year after year I have had to force myself not to get my arms and torso covered in beautiful designs! Would anyone employ me if I was tattooed a la Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie, Fearn Cotton? After all most offices frown upon tattoos on show – unless of course you are one of those deadly girls who work in fashion or make-up, like the girls who I saw in Betsy Johnson in San Fran! The girls in the store had beautiful tattoos all up their arms and across their chest – they didn’t look ‘rough’ (a term many people use to describe tattoo clad folk – well if you see some of the knick knacks in Dublin this term in fitting) but these girls were all actually amazingly beautiful.
You see I have a dilemma right now – I really want another tattoo… and not just some little faint symbol that goes unnoticed but a piece of art!
The top three pics below are the ones I want the most, (rabbit in the second one not the sleeve!)…
The only thing holding me back from getting one on my arm is future employment!

Love all these pics! Except the third one, denim shorts girl…. Dont like that tattoo. But the rest are great. That girl with the milkshake is HAWT!!
Annnnnd yeah, I’ve no piercings,no tattoos, i’m a wuss when it comes to pain AND needles, so I’ve no hope. Altho I love tattoos that mean something and are real pieces of art. Go for it! Somewhere your boss wont ever see (unless you’re f***ing him….) xx
I got my tattoo on my 18th birthday. A sunburst. And I’ve been testing the idea of getting a second (either something small on my wrist… or a swallow on my hip… I agree with you about being able to cover it up). But I probably won’t. Because it just doesn’t make sense right now.
Speaking of piercing tongues though, my niece (who is 15) had a friend pierce her tongue. I almost fainted when my brother shared the story with me. He did tell her that if gangrene set in and they went to the hospital, he’d have no problem telling the doctor to cut out her tongue.
I go through phases of wanting a tattoo. When I was younger I had loads of piercings and eventually got rid of all except my bellybutton. I fear I would be the same about a tattoo – I get bored too easily… And my work would DEFO not approve. How about the inside of your bicep or back of your neck?
Wow, those photos really caught my eye… the rabbit is adorable!
The ‘tramp stamp’ phase is incredibly irritating, I’ve wanted to get a tattoo on my lower back for ages and now every time I mention it I get a chorus of “No no NO, don’t get a tramp stamp!” Argh!
That tongue one would be agony. Love the rose on her wrist. Go for it!
Oh Kelly, you’re doing a lot better than me with only 2. Since my first one in Ireland I now have 5, soon to be six. I’ll have to do a post on all of them someday soon. I love the hipbone, rib area (I have a thistle and script across my left rib/under-boob)…DO ITTTT!! haha

Beautiful pictures!

i’m doing my best to NOT get one – i feel like once i do, i’ll just haaave to get everything else covered
