happy valentine’s day

20120214-231617.jpg

Some words of wisdom planted firmly under my computer screen at work!

Hope everyone’s having a nice Valentine’s day – I treated myself to a massage. Sure, if you don’t treat yourself who will?

I know some people cannot stand this overly commercial holiday, I don’t mind it too much myself. As a single person I certainly won’t be crying myself to sleep after devouring a box of chocolates tonight. No sarcasm there!

Despite what hallmark would like you to believe not everyone particularly wants to be in a couple and buy cards adorned with felt hearts and glitter. Give me a card with a puppy and it’s another matter altogether!

In saying that, I wouldn’t say no to a card or two!

rosie for burberry

I have rediscovered my love for The Feeling after hearing Rosé featured on the Burberry Body campaign.

The video sees Rosie Huntington-Whiteley seductively spritz herself with the fragrance while wearing an iconic British Burberry trench.

Later, satisfying many a male fantasy – as it appears dear Rosie has nothing on underneath.

All images (c) Burberry

I went a bit mute when I first saw the ad – besides being enthralled by Rosie’s beauty (I must join a gym!), I was mostly delighted by their song choice. Rosé is definitely an underrated track. If you do just one thing today it should be to watch The Feeling unplugged at Abbey Road for Burberry. It is mesmerising. Seriously – go watch it now! I have it on constant loop in the background.

I got a bit distracted on Burberry’s website and discovered that there is a feature to customise your own trench. Yes please!

To see how some real life folk style their trench coats head over to Art of the Trench for some inspiration.

goodbye ireland!

I have been absent for the blog world lately… the reason being I am moving to London! Ra, ra, ra!

The whole job situe in Ireland is beyond crap (as we all know!) so like many others I decided to up and leave. I’m jumping on the emigration bandwagon!

Over the past few months I have been firing CVs off to places in London and after two interviews with one particular company (one involving a presentation – scary!) I got a job :)

The job is slightly different to what I’m used to – it’s in recruitment consultancy as opposed to radio – but deliraaaa to have job security at last!… and moving to London is a bonus too – after spending almost five years living in Dublin ending up somewhere besides Coppers at 3am will be nice!

Tho’ will any London club play Damo & Ivor‘s chooon?!?!

The funny thing is moving to London kind of feels like moving to Dublin five years ago… most people I know from college/school/previous work are now living there so it’s not as scary a move as upping and moving to a new city where I don’t know anybody. I would probably be way too chicken to do that! It even worked out that I am moving in with two Irish guys I met on my J1 to San Fran in 2008!

Of course it is still scary moving somewhere new… and starting a new job.

I fly over on Friday and start work Monday. I was so excited that I got the job in the first place that I kind of forgot what it’s like starting somewhere new…  what to wear on the first day?! what will the other people in there be like?! will my head implode with nerves?! … well if head implosion is avoided I will consider the first day a success. Hurrah.

Once that’s over with my main priority is to go to London zoo…!

So long Ireland!

*insert witty oscar related title*

The Oscars took place last night… but unlike some hardcore peeps out there I didn’t pull an all-nighter and watch it live!

I am a failure *sob* …

BUT fret not fellow un-hardcore bed worshipping readers – RTE Two shall be showing the awards at 9pm tonight

*Ahem* I probably shouldn’t point out that this is almost past my bed-time on a work night… I am really not bowling anyone over with my coolness factor in this post am I? Loserville: population me.

Anyways here some guna’s from the night:

Natalie Portman in Rodarte.

She can do no wrong lately. Great accessories.

Scarlett Johansson in D&G.

Love this colour on her and her hair and make up is nice and simple… was a bit iffy on the ol’ floral pattern at first glance but definitely a fan of this look.

Jennifer Hudson in Versace.

How teeny tiny has Jennifer got lately?!

So the dress… what can be said really. I’m not a fan of it. From the waist up it’s…  well the only word I can think of is ‘fine’ and that’s probably too nice.

Wouldn’t be my cup of tea at all.

Also – I hate, hate, hate the purple shoes.

Reese Witherspoon in Armani.

Love the retro ponytail! Very 60′s/Mad Men-esque. Playing it somewhat safe with the dress but she is oh-so-lovely!

Florence Welch in a vintage dress.

Have seen this on some of the ‘worst dressed’ lists already… In theory I do quite like the dress and it is very Florence-y but the colour does make her look a bit washed out.

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Haute Couture.

It would seem from Twitterland that people adore this dress on Mila.

I do like it… alot! Just don’t love, love, love the colour.

*waits for stones to be thrown in anger*

I’m not a huge fan of wishy-washy pastel type colours. Love the lace detail and Mila looks beautiful – certainly topping the best dressed lists out there.

I just would love to have seen it in a deeper purple.

Halle Berry… in a dress.

No. Don’t like it.

Makes Halle look like she has stumps for legs. Waist up is grand… but from the waist down it looks like a three-year-old stuck some clumps of fabric to her while let loose with the pritt stick and glitter.

Michelle Williams in Chanel.

Simple, classy and beautiful.

“quit your job, buy a ticket, get a tan, fall in love, never return”

Easing myself back into blogging. My brain temporarily shut itself off over Christmas and am finding it hard to turn it back on.

I ignored all forms of news sources for about a week – Obama could have landed on the moon and I would have been none the wiser!

*Gah*

I am now on the iPhone/iPad bandwagon – I can’t understand how I survived without any of these magical gadgets for so long.

Tunein Radio is one of my fave apps as a radio addict! You can listen to stations throughout the country/world on your iPhone – yes it seems everyone has been aware of this for years, shame on me! Besides the usual suspects: Spin 103.8, Today FM and all the BBC stations my fave discovery is Hot 97 – a Hip Hop station in New York!

I am so Gangstaaaa! Which is actually the name of one of my playlists.

Speaking of Hip Hop I downloaded I Am T-Pain – an app that uses autotuner on your voice as you belt a some choons. I’m on my way to starting my professional Hip-Hop/Rap career. Pre-order my single here.

Quite liking 2011 so far I must say. Starting piano lessons again next Thursday (played for years before college) – decided instead off attempting to give something up as a new year’s resolution I would take something up instead. Decided taking up smoking might not be the best idea… lung cancer and all that jazz, plus smelly hair. Although Mad Men makes me want to be a chain smoker.

Think I’ll make a 2011 vision board for my room (have yet to decorate properly!) plus I love cutting pictures out of magazines and sticking glitter ad stringy items all over the place… but until then I’ll use this post as a vision board of sorts!

I’m feeling very festive all of a sudden!

Could it be the fact that Christmas is only 20 days away?! Or  because of all the snow we’ve had? Or the lovely lights on around Dublin? Well yes to all of those!

I wandered around town for a little bit yesterday before I got my hair done – as my readers will know the last time I got my hair cut the hairdresser botched it up and it was completely uneven – and it was just so lovely and festive around the place!

I absolutely love Style Club. Stacey in there  showed me that the left side of my hair was in fact three inches longer than the right! So I got just under four inches chopped off yesterday to even it up *eek* ! Quite a lot when you’re trying to grow your hair as long as it will grow! I blame disney – particularly the little Mermaid for my love of long hair!

Luckily it still looks the same length – bahahhaaha, Kellebelle: 1, Hair: 0 – it’s just cut properly now! Also got my roots dyed darker (I like the grungey look a la Rachel Bilson!) and a half head of blonde balayage done by Lucy – absolutely love it! If anyone is looking for good hair stylists in Dublin I’d definitely point them towards Style Club’s  Stacey for cuts and Lucy for colour!

Anyhoo! I’ve been flicking through the December issues of some magazines and love the pages dedicated to Christmas Wishlists (Stellar and Marie Claire have great ones!) so decided I’d do my own!

Santa if you’re reading this blog I have been very good this year – I even got up early today (on a Sunday!) to tidy my bedroom!

As you can see I am a fan of books and toys for Christmas! I am a child at heart! I love board games tho’ – the Game of Life and Monopoly are my absolute faves! When I was little I used to get a different boardgame every Christmas… including some dodgy boring ones like Discover Ireland!

I was in Brown Thomas the other day – oh wow – their Christmas section and Marvel Room are stunning. They have the BEST collection of books ever. I spent most of my time looking at the childrens books – I just love the illustrations! They had an ah.may.zing Alive in Wonderland book collection – I want it!

Now to win the lotto…

happy wednesday

Halfway through the week – nearly the weekend!

Quite excited for this weekend I must say, heading home to Waterford – dying to see my dogs and cat! Having to make do with hearing CoCo make sniffly sounds on the phone does not work (yes I am one of those weird people that put their dogs on the phone!).

Getting broadband tomorrow – yay – so more regular blogging from next week!

The Chilean miners got rescued today as you can tell from flicking on any news channel – great news story that really seems to get to people. Nice change from the economy crap we hear daily. In keeping with the miners theme if you have not already done so check out @Chilean_Miner on Twitter. Perhaps the FUNNIEST Twitter page I have encountered to date.

Some gems:

“I don’t care how in vogue they are, wearing sunglasses underground makes you a try-hard. “Ray-Ban” Juan disagrees”

“Despite his efforts Juan is unable to convince us we are basking under a warm sun by waggling an orange on a string”

“Another troubled night. Ramon was mining in his sleep again”

“According to Ramon’s home made calendar, today is August 46th”

Brilliant! I don’t know how I only discovered that Twitter today but spent ages reading all the tweets – seriously funny stuff. Fair play to whoever is behind it!

In keeping with all things good and lovely here are some photos that made me smile.

Hope you enjoy them – I saved the best one till last!
