knit wit

I really want to learn to knit.

Given that I barely have time to draw, taking on another hobby may be tricky. But alas, I will one day be able to knit myself a jumper… or at least some woolly socks!

I am obsessed with greeting cards and often spend ages in shops eyeing them up and using them for sketching inspiration. I was in Scribbler the other day when I spied a knitting kit… to knit a coffee cup cosy!!!!!

knit

Genuis.

I bought it but haven’t managed to use it yet as I have been mad busy with my new job this week!

Will post progress of how I get on with my attempt to knit this!

Do you knit? Any tips for a beginner like me?!

When snow was my mate!

photo-3

See! I didn’t always hate snow!

How cool is my massive pink faux-fur jacket?!

I don’t think my cat Prancer was as into the snow as I was…

jubilee outfit

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you will know that last weekend was the Queen’s Jubilee.

Now I am Irish as I am sure you, dear readers, know but I was still very excited about the Jubilee. What’s not to love about a 4 day weekend? Plus I love corgis (or any dogs for the matter!) so corgi embellished bags and window displays popping up everywhere made my little face smile.

I  walked into Topshop on Saturday and was surprised by the amount of clothes with a royal theme – crown decorated jeans, Union Jack shorts, beefeaters on crop tops (I bought one!) and lots of nail art.

Ahem, I have to admit I only found out what beefeaters are this second, the name sounds like something from Harry Potter. They are the guards of the Tower of London – who wear red and have those massive black hats.

All the above are from Topshop.

I bought some Jubilee socks as you can never have enough socks… and one pair has corgis on them!

This is my Jubilee outfit:

I also did a bit of nail art!

Well, very lazy nail art. I bought those nail stickers from Topshop and just put them on one finger on each hand.

swooop swoooop

Back from Austria as of yesterday… dead now, have a full on cold item so downing tea like I do tequila shots at the weekends *shudder*

Check out the official pics and vids HERE

I managed to do one (yes only one!) ski lesson… I am a life fail!

But in my defence it was a work trip so any spare time was spent… well… there wasn’t much spare time really…! And when there was I faffed around the place drinking hot chocolate with rum (magic).

Hopefully I’ll manage to go on a proper ski hol someday and go for proper lessons… without tumbling down the mountain top. Eeep.

In the meantime while my brain slash life recovers from lack of sleep etc here are some non-snow related photos…

…and so the lion fell in love with the lamb [spirit hoods]

…Well leopard if we’re getting into the finer details!

My Spirit Hood arrived! Huzzah! I blogged a while ago about ordering  my leopard spirit hood – of course not thinking things thru’ I got it delivered to my Waterford home instead of Dublin so ending up sans hood for a few weeks!

Got it sent up last Thursday and have been living in it ever since!

It is without a doubt my favourite thing right not! So cosy – and it has little glovey paws too! EEP.

Tho’ I do get the odd person miaowing at me in the streets…

me and my invisable mate

I’ve been working on the breakfast show (6.30am-1pm) and evening shift (4.30pm-7pm) in work for the last two weeks… safe to say the ol’ body clock doesn’t know what’s hit it! The hours themselves don’t really bother me (besides being sleepy some days!) cuz I genuinely love being in work and am delighted to be getting hours (I’m freelance so my hours can be anything really!)

Anyhoo my point is that my eating habits have gone a bit… funny.  I eat breakfast (porridge always!) in work at about 7am… then grab ‘lunch’ at about 10 or 11am. I always sleep between 1.30pm-4pm so don’t eat before my second shift (just grab a hot chocolate!)… by the time I leave work at 7pm I am ready to eat my arm!!!

On Wednesday  I thought ‘feck it I’m too hungry to even wait for a takeaway’ so plonked myself in Eddie Rockets! Now ya know what they say – never shop on an empty stomach. Well they should extend that to ordering food by yourself! So I ordered an amazo Orea milkshake to keep me going before the grub arrived (!) … and I also ordered a veggie burger, sweet potato fries, onion rings and Cajun sauce. A lot for a little person. But it gets worse…

Now my friend Becky has given my… er… condition a name – Kelly Belly… whereby I order a ridiculous amount of food convinced I’m gonna eat it all, but take a few nibbles and am full! Said food is then put in the fridge to be eaten at a later date… but never sees the light of day!

So I walk up to the counter in Eddies and hand over my order slip.

“Would you like to pay separately?” asks the girl.

I just stare at her a little stunned before I realise she thinks there was more than me at my table due to my ridiculous order.

“Em… no… it’s just me” *girl looks embarrassed for me* then of course I feel the need to explain myself, “yeah… eh ya see… I work funny hours… eh… my eyes are bigger than my belly…em…yeah” *nervous laugh from me*… blank stare from the girl.

Oh dear.

happy wednesday

Halfway through the week – nearly the weekend!

Quite excited for this weekend I must say, heading home to Waterford – dying to see my dogs and cat! Having to make do with hearing CoCo make sniffly sounds on the phone does not work (yes I am one of those weird people that put their dogs on the phone!).

Getting broadband tomorrow – yay – so more regular blogging from next week!

The Chilean miners got rescued today as you can tell from flicking on any news channel – great news story that really seems to get to people. Nice change from the economy crap we hear daily. In keeping with the miners theme if you have not already done so check out @Chilean_Miner on Twitter. Perhaps the FUNNIEST Twitter page I have encountered to date.

Some gems:

“I don’t care how in vogue they are, wearing sunglasses underground makes you a try-hard. “Ray-Ban” Juan disagrees”

“Despite his efforts Juan is unable to convince us we are basking under a warm sun by waggling an orange on a string”

“Another troubled night. Ramon was mining in his sleep again”

“According to Ramon’s home made calendar, today is August 46th”

Brilliant! I don’t know how I only discovered that Twitter today but spent ages reading all the tweets – seriously funny stuff. Fair play to whoever is behind it!

In keeping with all things good and lovely here are some photos that made me smile.

Hope you enjoy them – I saved the best one till last!

black and gold

I went to my cousin’s wedding on Sunday. Actually the first wedding I’ve ever been to, eep! It was on in the beautiful Cabra Castle in Cavan – great spot! There was a ma-hoo-sive Irish Wolfhound running around the place too… kinda made my day! I do luff the dogs…

Woof.

But less about the dog more about the clothes!

The deets:

Jacket: 80′s vintage

Dress: AA

Shoes: Pretty Small Shoes (I am size 2!)

Necklace: Chanel

Clutch: Topshop

there are no words…

hahaha!

I just had to post this… he is so fuh-hunny!
