I am a sales persons dream.
I walk into a shop and it’s like they can sense straight away that I am easy… to convince, that is! This is one of the reasons
I don’t like to shop alone. When I do shop solo I end up arriving home having signed up to a heap of newsletters, wallet bulging with new loyalty cards (for shops I never usually shop in, an appointment booked for some pre season sale… and a few random bits and bobs that seemed like a great purchase in the shop but in the bright light of my bedroom appear useless.
Example one being something that can only be described as
DUST for your hair that apparently gives a backcombed effect… ahem… flaw number one being I have dark hair and the dust is white so… well it doesn’t take a scientist to figure out what it looks like! The lady behind the counter made it sound magical and boom I was sold! Without a logical friend with me to point out that white dust in my hair could never look good, I parted with 15 quid.
The other week my Skull Candy ear buds broke. I was dashing to catch the tube and thought I was going slightly deaf as I could only hear in one ear. I spent the entire tube journey twiddling the wires to try get sound in both ears… not too much to ask!
I need to listen to music on the way to work to wake up and especially need to on the tube to avoid any sort of social interaction. Hermit.
So after two days of broken headphones, (but still wearing them on the tube to avoid said interaction) I went to HMV to get a replacement. Now of course this in itself was a challenge as I still get lost in London. I ended up in several book shops and a Tesco… before Google maps saved me and pointed me to a HMV in Picadilly.
I went straight for the Skull Candy section… but got distracted en route. HMV have a whole headphone section where you can stick your iPhone in and test them… I presume I have copped on to this fact five years later! So I spent a good 15 minutes trying out all the headphones… then going back in a circle and listening again.
It was probably my own fault for standing like a lost soul staring at headphone boxes… one of the guys working there, probably assuming I was having some sort of headphone related meltdown came over. In the end I left the shop with headphones AND
earbuds… apparently you need both. Ahem.
But the moral of this story… yes it has taken me a while to get to the point!… is that (solo) Beats by Dr Dre are my favourite headphones on the planet. They would want to be seeing as they are about £150 ish.. but have been well worth it. They are very bassy (just what I love) so if you don’t like that then they may not be the best choice in the world! They fold up too so fit neatly in the ol’ bag.
When I first tried to use them I was convinced they were broken and had a mini spaz attack in my bedroom at the thoughts of hiking (yes I live in Siberia) back to HMV to complain. Then it turned out I had the wire plugged in the wrong way around (the phone answering part has to be at the headphone end not the phone end… as I thought! Fail).
