missing delivery…

3 Dec

“Hello is that Kellebelle?”

“Em… yes”

“This is Brian from the Garda station”

*panic* what did I do?!

“Oh hi!” … like we speak every day

*that’s it I’m going to be arrested*

“Kellebelle [said in typical Cork Garda accent] we have had some clothes of yours dropped in to us in the station”

*silence* huh?!

“…somebody with broken English handed in an ASOS bag with your name on it”

“Oh… that’s odd”

“If you want to collect it anytime before two o’ clock”

“…Ok thanks”

*hangs up*

What just happened????

Right…. So my ASOS delivery which I ordered by courier as I needed it ASAP was not only verrrry late (this was Monday – it was meant to arrive by Thursday)… but it somehow ended up in the Garda station!?! Gah. The package had my number on it so there was no way the courier could have got lost finding my house…

My dad collected the package as I was in Dublin – it was open and my dress had been taken out too … and smelled like smoke!

*gross*

So very confused (and fairly pissed off!) I rang the courier and turns out they lost my package en route to my house… Yes – just lost it.

The delivery somehow ended up with someone else – they don’t know who. I don’t know why the parcel was opened and not just returned to the courier … but I suppose they could have just thrown it out. Kinda gross that it smells tho’ – wouldn’t wear that!

I contacted ASOS who immediately sent me out a replacement – which didn’t end up with the Gadai this time and they gave me a 20% discount code which was pretty good.

I seem to constantly have problems with these couriers tho’! Several times they have just left packages by my gate or in my car!!! Yes one time I must have left my car unlocked (why they thought to try open it I don’t know!) and they popped the package in the back seat! They never ring or leave notes if I’m not there and I’ve had parcels sent back (which I’ve had to reorder!) The whole point of ordering courier is to get it to your house quicker and safer than regular post!

picnic

3 Sep

The whole world and their shoe seems to be at Electric Picnic this weekend! Glad I didn’t buy a ticket as I ended up being sick for the week – typical end of summer lark. Not impressed. Winter is here. Boo. No such thing as autumn in Ireland really now is there!

For once I actually don’t mind missing it… to be honest I’m not really a ‘camp out in a field for several days with hundreds of drunk people’ kind of girl. I wish I was! Really I do! Maybe I could do one night…yes I feel that would be doable… but to be honest it sounds awful. Ya see I happen to love… as in I need it to breath/function/not bite people’s heads off and I’m pretty sure festivals for sleeping lots. If I could get by on one hr sleep – fantastic… but alas unless I get 8 hours sleep I can’t function and just slump in a corner fighting the urge to growl at random passers-by. Not a pretty sight.

A festival where people stay in B&Bs…. Mmmm that sounds nice!!!

Yes I am a freak.

I’d rather an old-fashioned picnic in the park with tea and cakes! Nom.

t minus four days

28 Aug

So the ol’ tattoo item is booked, deposit paid, designed picked!

Getting it done next Wednesday at 3pm. They’ve booked me in for a two hour slot - eep(!) seems long! My other two tattoos probably only took about 20/30 mins each.

I’ve been thinking about getting a new tattoo for aaaages but couldn’t decide what I wanted or where I wanted it. But finally (at last!) I have picked out my design (a pink lily) and decided where to get it (my leg…well thigh area to be specific). Unlike my other tats I’ve decided to go a bit bigger with this one – kinda like the size of a rose head (I am really bad at explaining sizes… but it’s not gonna be a little one this time!).

I don’t have the design uploaded yet but I will post the pics when I get it done! In the meantime here are some fab designs I found while trying to find what I wanted…

Also sorry for the serious lack of blog posts lately – silly work has me wrecked at the min! Will be back to regular posting asap :)

what big ears you have

23 Aug

I love these photos.

I am a sucker for pics with animals  – I want a pet rabbit and lamb! Although my two dogs and cat are a handful enough. My puppy* CoCo was stung by a wasp on the mouth yesterday (she tried to eat it!, thinking it was a blue bottle – mank) – full on panic stations (tho’ I love to overreact!).

Fully convinced myself she was going to have an allergic reaction and die like Macaulay Culkin kid (back when he was cute) in ‘My Girl’. The fact that all the vets were closed and their phones just rang out didn’t help my panicked state. Thank God for google and its magicness – discovered bread soda made into a paste with milk helps. Hmm. Well she didn’t die so horraaaaayy.

All photos by the fantastic Zoey Grossman.

*I say puppy tho’ she is in fact not a puppy anymore, tear.

style icon:whitney port

9 Aug

I am a little bit in love with Whitney Port at the minute.

I remember when I was thirteen or fourteen I got a Bobbi Brown make-up book (to this day it’s my favourite make-up brand) that said every one should have a style icon they can relate to in some sense.  I think it came up in the context of Bobbi never having anyone she could really relate to growing up – she was surrounded by pictures of blonde, pale skined, blue-eyed models while she had strong features, brown eyes, dark hair and dark, tanned skin.

Anyhoo it’s a really good point if you think about it.

It’s nice to pick a style icon that you can relate to in some ways, of course I don’t mean find someone who’s a carbon copy of you – that could be hard (or impossible for non-professional lookalikes!) but even try find someone like you in terms of style, weight, face shape etc.

I love Katy Perry but I look nothing (and I mean nothing!) like her. She has amazing curves (I have none), pale skin (I’m sallow to the point of yellow!). I think she is so fab tho’ that I decided a while back I would dye my hair like her… disaster. I looked washed out and dead, and thank God I didn’t go for the fringe too.

I felt kinda bad after it tho’ – how come she looked so nice with dark hair and I looked completely shit??

Bobbi’s point was that if we can find a beauty/style icon we can relate to it can make us feel better about ourselves – we’re not comparing ourselves to something completely unobtainable, i.e. if you’re a pale skin, red-haired Irish girl someone like the fabulous Karen Gillen.

Whitney has a long face shape more like mine, brown eyes, middle parting/long hair (same ish colour and style), similar colourings in terms of skin tone etc. When I went to the hairdressers to get a Whitney-esque colour it came out nice and I didn’t look dead a la Katy Perry. Phew. We’re about the same ish build – she’s obvo waaaay taller.

(On a side note – why is it that it seems quite hard to say ‘I’m not fat’ or  ‘I’m slim’… Is it just me? Maybe it’s an Irish thing but I hate saying anything about my size. It almost seems if anyone says ‘oh you’re so skinny’ the proper answer is ‘go awaaay out of that I am not, look how big my *insert random body part* is).

Now obviously I don’t look like Whitney (*dreams*) but I think it is quite nice to have a style icon who you can at least feel like you can try emulate in some shape or form. We all have our own style and quirks but it’s nice to look to others for  inspiration. I personally love Whitney’s laid back style – I am a big blazer fan, esp. boyfriend blazers which Whitney wears a lot. She actually has a fab one HERE from her own line… tho’ a bit on the pricey side!

Of course it’s great to have a variety of style icons but it is nice to have at least one whose photos don’t make you feel crappy about yourself (ahem Katy Perry and her fab curves!)

What do you guys think?

hay is for horses

3 Jul

Naaaay Nay!

This summer I’ve started to take horse riding lessons – really fun but way harder than it looks! I thought you’d just pop up on the horse and off you go… hmm apparently not!

I always wanted to go for lessons but I guess I just felt like I was too late (considering most of my friends have been doing it since they were 9!). Well, I think that was more of my mentality as a teenager – now it’s pretty obvious that you don’t have to be a pro at everything by 22!

Next… surfing!

mia

10 Jun

I have been MIA for the last week. Why oh why? – you may ask! Well … work.

Work, work, work, work, work, work, work.

I will return to the blogosphere this weekend! Promise!

I have been reading lots lately (The Carrie Diaries was the most recent – fab!) and have decided I am going to write a book… eventually.

Boom.

apartment hunting

24 Apr

So I’m currently in the process of finding a new apartment – not the easiest of things when you have to consider budget, room size, proximity to work etc. Plus there are some really crappy places on the market and then beautiful ones out of our budget.

We found our dream apartment but waiting to see if the landlord will drop the rent (fingers crossed!). It is two minutes from work, three bedrooms, three bathrooms… amazing amazing amazing.

Although I am slightly worried I’ll get a new job out in Donnybrook or Ballsbridge which will rule out walking to work and cost me €100 extra a month on bus fare. The pain of working freelance

I’m already imagining how I will do up my room! I need a theme. Thinking maybe movies. When we viewed the apartment they had loads of movie posters framed, like Pulp Fiction etc… it looked fab! So maybe that’s what I’ll do!

Does anyone have any suggestions?!

I normally do up my room from the kids section in Dunnes but I am clearly not five anymore so don’t think I’ll go down that route this time…

How amazing is the last photo?!?!

Wow.

so i got stuck in a lift…

22 Mar

… it wasn’t the most fun, I’m not gonna lie.

Now I’m not particularly claustrophobic but being stuck in a tiny (and I mean TINY) lift for an hour wasn’t exactly my idea of a good Saturday evening.

The lift in my building isn’t the most reliable. Some days it just decides not to work. Generally on days where I’m heading home and have to drag my cases down the stairs. Effort. I do love to be lazy.

That week the lift had been out of action for the most part. Builder type characters were putting new bits in it everyday. But of course I still decided the lift was working. *grr*

So there I was, just entered the building with bags and bags of shopping and sore feet. The two flights of stairs (yes, only two… but it’s a lot when you’re small!) seemed way too much effort, so I sauntered into the lift.

Now I suppose the fact I had to close the outside part of the lift by pulling some sticky tape that somebody had stuck to the door should have been an indication that the lift probably wasn’t in the best condition… but alas… I am lazy.

I pressed the number for my floor… the metal doors shut… and nothing. Nothing. NOTHING.

I pressed the button again. Still nothing.

Ok. Not ideal. I press the alarm button. Which is basically a useless doorbell stuck in the lift that buzzes out on the floor. Yeah as if my neighbours would notice… or care!

I start to get a little panicky… I ring the emergency number. “I’m sorry all our operators are busy, please hold.”

OhmygodIamgoingtodieinthisliftandnobodywillknow!

Eventually my call is answered and the guy asks me if there is anyone in my apartment he can ring… again panick. “There’s nobody at home…” *eek* Why does he need to ring them?? Will I be stuck for hours?

Then he tells me he’ll ring me when he gets in touch with an engineer.

Fifteen minutes later I get a call from the engineer to say he’s about 20 minutes away. I then realise I have to pee. On the plus side I had enough food with me to last a week.

Eventually engineer man slash hero arrives and saves the day.

I haven’t been in the lift since.

Although I can’t say I haven’t been tempted to try it out. Stairs are too much effort.

three little bears… and a head of golden locks

4 Mar

I’m a little bit obsessed with blonde hair lately… Is it the fact it’s *sunny?

*And by sunny I do mean mildly sun in Ireland but of course it is ice cold.

My hair is naturally medium brown (I think! Tho’ who knows at this stage!) so I don’t think I can rock the snow blonde look…

Every year without fail I decide I simply must go blonde. And every year I come to the conclusion I look better dark… yet the cycle continues.

Oh summer… *swoon*
