girl crush: january jones

Mad Men = WOW.

I have been behind with the times! I have just started watching Mad Men (just finished series 1!) it’s amazing. I had heard lots of reviews about the show but I never seemed to see it on TV… so as usual (I don’t watch much TV on telly!) I have  been watching it online. Tho’ damn Megavideo loves to make me wait ages after I have reached my daily quota!

I have a new-found obsession with all things 60s.

I wish we had that glamour in our daily lives – all the girls look so fab and feminine all the time. Although thank God women aren’t treated as much like second-best to men any more.

I have to say I am slightly jealous of the girls curves when watching Mad Men!

Maybe it’s just me but I feel better having popcorn and scoffing some chocolate when watching Mad Men as opposed to Gossip Girl which quite frankly makes me want to immediately do 100 sit-ups.

I am in love with the wonderfully, beautiful January Jones who plays Bett Draper…

… and some photos of January not in character – she can do no wrong in my eyes!

Which styling do you guys prefer? The 60s vibe or the more ‘modern’ noughties twist?? Although most of the latter are just her in her underwear!

i wasn’t aware that robots got jealous. did they update your software while i was away?

I’m not even a massive fan of Gossip Girl (tho’ I did read one of the books once and it was deadly!) but I love the whole Chuck & Blair storyline.

girl crush: emilie de ravin

I love this girl!

So excited to see Remember Me – her new movie with RPatz!

Most people will recognise Emilie from Lost… but I never knew she was in Roswell before that with Katherine Heigl!

The final series of Lost is here (at last I thought it would never end!) and I’m delight to see the return of Claire Littleton played by Emilie De Ravin.

Although Claire has gone a little loopy from living on her own for three years…

I love Lost but I’m glad it’s the last series – can’t wait to find out what the hell is actually going on. Tho’ if it’s all someone dreaming or something ridic like that I won’t be impressed!

girl crush: erin wagner

Erin Wagner from America’s Next Top Model cycle 13… aka the petite cycle!

Although the term ‘petite’ is debatable – all the models must be under 5″7 to compete. ‘Petite’ is generally regarded as under 5″3 but I guess this isn’t the case in the ‘model world’.

I’m only 5… well 4″11… shh!

I think Erin (5″6) is stunningly beautiful. I now want to dye my hair her icelandic shade of blonde…

Seems the whole world is obsessed with this vampire buzz lately!

I have to say True Blood is my new favourite series and I love all the Twilight Books… wonder why they’re so popular lately tho’? It’s not like vampire stories are new… been around for centuries!

Anyways, thought this ad was a really interesting way to promote blood donation!

Have You Met Ted?

I officially have a new favourite sitcom – How I Met Your Mother!

It is the new Friends (and I never thought I’d say this) but sooooo much better. It’s now on season 5 in the States and season 1 is playing on E4 (weeknights 7:30pm). I first heard about the show when Britney Spears had a cameo but had never watched it then… anyhoo I happened upon it the night E4 had the pilot on… and have been HOOKED ever since. And I don’t use the term ‘hooked’ loosely either. No, now you might expect a normal person to watch it on TV every night… but… well I just couldn’t wait so watched it online and am up-to-date with the US folk now… and tonight epi 4 will be aired.

How-I-Met-Your-Mother

The show centres around five friends living in New York. Ted Mosby is the central character and the show is actually set with him in 2030 telling his kids the story of how he met their mother. It is hil-ar-ious. Alyson Hannigan (Willow in Buffy) plays Lily, Jason Segal (Freaks & Geeks) plays Marshall, Neil Patrick Harris and Colbie Smulders play Barney and Robyn.

The part of Ted Mosby is played by Josh Radnor, who until HIMYM was a relative unknown (well in the UK and Ireland anyways). He has an MFA in Acting from Tisch School of the Arts in NYU (which is an amazing arts school! and pretty much impossible to get into – they take 18 students per year out of almost 1000 applicant, yikes!) … and is pretty much my favourite in the show (…and Barney… He is comedy genius!)…

Don’t Run With Scissors – Run In Heels.

The latest fashion reality show hits E4 tonight at 10pm.

Running in Heels gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the running of US Marie Claire. Already on US screens the show is said to ooze bitchiness and drama. It follows US editor Joanna Coles (who’s British), her staff, and three new interns: Talita, Samantha and Ashley. And most of the bitchiness is down to those  interns!

I have to say I felt verrrry jealous when I saw the ads on E4 showing the new interns dragging their suitcases around as they move into their new apartment (together – of course as the are NBFs…*cough*) … What I wouldn’t do to be an intern for MC…

I just hope that these girls were picked because they deserve the position and not because they make good TV. Unlikely.

The promo on E4 introduces Joanna Coles (with their infamous booming male voice-over) and asks the question:

“Does she like the idea of hiring three ditzy  interns?”

GAHHHH!!!

I have to admit that promo has made me lose some respect for US Marie Claire. It’s a professional business, it should hire professionals who can do a job not ‘ditzy’ inexperienced folk to entertain the masses.

And if they chose not to hire deserving candidates just to generate more publicity then the magazine is not as credible as I thought.

However, I will give it the benefit of the doubt until I actually see the show.

Sometimes promos can be a bit misleading, for example the US promo calls refers to the three girls as ‘bright-eyed interns’… quite a difference to ‘ditzy interns’.
