books for june

by Kellebelle

I am currently reading the absolutely stunning book that is ‘Elizabeth is Missing’ by Emma Healey, who I had the pleasure of meeting recently.

The book’s narrator is 82 year old Maud who is sliding into dementia, she keeps buying peach slices when she has a cupboard full, forgets to drink the cups of tea she’s made and writes notes to remind herself of things. But Maud is determined to discover what has happened to her friend, Elizabeth, and what it has to do with the unsolved disappearance of her sister Sukey, years back, just after the war.

I honestly can’t put this book down. It is the sort of book that makes me look forward to getting the tube in the mornings (and that says A LOT) just to have a solid 20 minutes of reading before work.

Aside from the novel itself, I adore the cover art! Go to my other blog Kelly Illustrates to see more of the book’s artwork and find out about the fabulous artist behind the illustrations.

The next book I have lined up to read is ‘Almost English’.
